Supporting children and young people

If you are concerned about the impact of domestic abuse on your children or children you are working with, our leaflet “Talking to your child about domestic abuse”.

Children’s Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (CIDVA)

CIDVA provide one to one support for young people currently experiencing domestic abuse. The Children’s Independent Domestic Violence Advocate provides 1-2-1 support for young people (all genders) aged 13-17 living in Islington. This support includes:

  • Providing guidance and advice.
  • Creating safety and support plans.
  • Supporting young people with housing, education, and health.
  • Explaining the criminal justice system.
  • Helping young people to understand abuse to make their own decisions.
  • Making referrals to other agencies such as mental health, counselling and drug and alcohol.
  • Supporting each young person individually and tailoring the service to their needs.
  • We support young people at their own pace.
