Moving on from temporary accommodation
When you move on from your temporary accommodation you will need to contact your temporary accommodation officer in the council.
When you move on from your temporary accommodation, contact your temporary accommodation officer to:
- arrange handing back the keys to your temporary accommodation provider
- tell them your new address.
You must also tell the Housing Benefit and Council Tax teams about your new address. If your temporary accommodation is in Islington, the best way to do this, is to telephone the Revenues and Benefits helpline on 020 7527 4990, or speak to the housing benefit and council tax teams in the borough you are living in.
When you leave, you need to:
- remove all your belongings, clean the property and leave it tidy for others to move in
- read your gas and electricity meters and let your suppliers know that you have moved.
