Grass cutting
We cut:
- grass to between 20mm and 40mm throughout the year
- bulb areas down from 1 June
- summer meadow areas once a year in September to a height of 50mm and remove all cuttings.
We don't cut grass during very cold, wet or dry weather
Shrub maintenance
We will prune shrubs when necessary to maintain them within the site boundary. The time of year when we can do this depends on the species.
Trees
We will:
- keep tree pits clear of established weed
- remove all tree suckers to a height of three metres
- lift low branches overhanging hard standing areas to two metres.
Tree works are carried out by Greenspace, who inspect and maintain all our estate trees. They survey estate trees every three years. From this survey, they make and complete a schedule of planned works.
Greenspace will prune trees if:
- they are interfering with a property
- the health of the tree or surrounding trees is affected.
Greenspace will not prune trees because of:
- a tree blocking light to a window
- mess being caused by insects or birds
- interference with satellite dish reception
- too much leaf fall
- problems connected to pollen.
Leaves
We remove leaves from grassed areas and shrub beds. Caretakers clear hard standing areas and paths. We spray hard standing areas to kill weeds and ensure that these areas are kept weed free.
