Easter service changes

During the Easter period, some of our services will be operating slightly different hours. Our council’s bin collection schedule will change for one week starting on Friday 29 March to make sure everyone’s waste is picked up around the bank holiday.

If you are looking to boost your employment skills or start an apprenticeship, there are range of services in Islington that can help.

Free training

Adult and Community Learning

Our Adult and Community Learning service offer a range of free courses for Islington residents and parents with children in Islington schools who would like to improve their skills and life chances. Courses include digital skills, Maths, English, ESOL, vocational and employment skills, family learning and community learning.

Connecting Communities

Our Connecting Communities programme helps residents develop their employment skills and find suitable work.

Leading Inclusive Futures through Technology (LIFT)

Our LIFT programme (in partnership with Camden, Hackney and Tower Hamlets) provides a range of training courses to help residents into jobs in the local knowledge economy including tech, digital, sciences, and creative production.

FC Designer Workspace 

FC Designer Workspace, located in Finsbury Park, provides professional stitching courses, business mentoring and masterclasses from industry experts.

City and Islington College 

City and Islington College is one of the largest further education colleges in London. Located across Angel, Holloway Road, Finsbury Park and Camden Road, they offer an extensive range of academic and vocational courses for all ages.

Apprenticeships

Our apprenticeship programme combines work experience, training and a competitive London Living Wage salary in a variety of areas such as business administration, project management, finance, customer service, horticulture and childcare.

Become a social worker

Step Up to Social Work is a Department for Education-funded, fast-track programme that sees candidates become qualified social workers in 14 months. The programme is designed to support highly-skilled graduates into social care. Applications will open in February 2023 with the programme starting in January 2024.
