Grants and schemes

Several grants and schemes are available to residents and organisations to reduce their carbon footprint.

For residents

Home Upgrade Grant 2: you may be eligible for free insulation, low carbon heating or solar panels.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme: you could get a grant to cover part of the cost of replacing fossil fuel heating systems with a heat pump or biomass boiler.
Electric Vehicle chargepoint grant: switch to an electric vehicle and reduce your carbon footprint.
ULEZ scrappage scheme for cars and motorcycles: the eligibility requirements for this scheme are expanding from 21 August 2023. Anyone living within a London borough with an eligible vehicle will be able to apply to the scheme.
Ecofurb: see what improvements you could make to your home.
Solar Together: generate your own green electricity by installing solar panels.
Connected for Warmth: you could be eligible for free loft insulation or a heat pump.
Great British Insulation Scheme: you may be able to get free or cheaper insulation to reduce your home's energy bills.
Energy Company Obligation 4: you might be able to get help for energy-saving improvements to your home. If eligible, please apply through SHINE.

Energising Small Business: grants aimed to help you improve the energy efficiency of your organisation or minimise its carbon emissions.
Islington Community Energy Fund: if you are a community- led innovation project, you could be eligible to for the Islington Community Energy Fund (ICEF).
Islington Council funding: Islington Council provides support to local organisations to become more sustainable.
London funding: London-wide funding to help make you organisation more sustainable.
Other funding: national funding to help make you organisation more sustainable.
Free Business Audit Scheme: take a free organisation audit and find out how you can reduce costs and protect the environment.
Solar Together: generate your own green electricity by installing solar panels on your office, school or workspace.
ULEZ van and minibus scrappage scheme: supports eligible sole traders, small businesses, micro businesses and charities to scrap or retrofit vehicles that don't meet the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) emissions standards.
