Islington council is preparing new planning guidance on how buildings can reduce their carbon emissions. You can get involved by reading the scoping paper and completing a survey at the Let's Talk Islington webpage.
Smart meters are the new generation of gas and electricity meters being rolled out across the UK. Your supplier is required to fit one for free if you request it.
Smart meters show you how much energy you’re using in pounds and pence. They give you live data on your energy usage, and you may also have access half-hourly data on your supplier’s website if they offer this to customers. This will allow you to check whether you are using energy when your site is closed at night or at the weekend.
Smart meters also send automatic meter readings to your energy supplier, meaning no more estimated bills.
Just by installing a smart meter you will be helping to create a smarter energy system. This means the energy system will be able to better match supply with demand and integrate more renewable energy sources such as wind and solar, helping to reduce carbon emissions.
